About the Farm
Long Meadow Farm is a 28-acre organic farm in West Gardiner, Maine. We raise a wide range of food and other products including vegetables, eggs, meat, cut flowers, herbs, and more (for details see our products page). The farm is certified by the Maine Organic Farmers and Growers Association (MOFGA).
We began in 2003 guided by our vision of creating a model for sustainable, low-input, low-tech organic farming. We currently have almost two acres under cultivation for vegetables, blueberries and strawberries, cut flowers, herbs, and natural dyes; another 10 acres are in pasture/hayfield; and 10 more acres are cutover pine forest, fenced for rough pasture. We have a small flock of Icelandic sheep for meat and fiber, 2 angora goats for fiber and chewing down the brush, and 50 laying hens.
The farm's products are sold through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and the Gardiner Farmers' Market. We also sell directly from the farm--please contact us if you'd like to stop by.
Our apprentice program offers an opportunity for people to live on the farm for a season while learning about organic farming.
Longmeadow Farm is owned and operated by Denis Thoet.
